What causes drowsiness accompanied by nausea and vomiting?
Feeling so tired that you experience nausea and the urge to vomit may be caused by lack of sleep, anemia, gastroenteritis, insufficient cerebral blood supply, gastric ulcers, or other reasons.
1. Sleep Deprivation
This may result from severe lack of sleep, causing excessive physical fatigue and abnormal digestive system function. Improving the sleep environment and moderately extending sleep duration can help alleviate symptoms.
2. Anemia
If a patient has anemia, a reduced number of red blood cells leads to lower hemoglobin concentration, leaving the digestive system in a state of ischemia and hypoxia, which can easily cause discomfort such as nausea and vomiting. Symptoms may be accompanied by dizziness and fatigue. As directed by a physician, iron supplements such as compound ferrous sulfate and folic acid tablets, iron dextran tablets, or compound ferrous sulfate granules may be taken to promote hemoglobin synthesis.
3. Gastroenteritis
Gastroenteritis may be caused by bacterial infection. Inflammatory stimulation can lead to digestive dysfunction, resulting in abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and other discomforts. Under medical guidance, medications such as ciprofloxacin hydrochloride tablets, levofloxacin hydrochloride capsules, or cefuroxime axetil tablets may be used to help resolve the inflammation.
4. Insufficient Cerebral Blood Supply
This may be due to factors such as increased blood viscosity, low blood pressure, or cerebral arteriosclerosis, leading to inadequate blood flow to the brain and subsequent damage to brain cells. Symptoms may include headache and tinnitus. As prescribed by a doctor, anticoagulant drugs such as dipyridamole tablets, ticlopidine hydrochloride tablets, or ticagrelor tablets may be used to inhibit platelet aggregation and prevent thrombosis.
5. Gastric Ulcer
Excessive mental stress or infection with Helicobacter pylori may cause damage and ulceration in parts of the stomach lining, leading to gastric ulcers, gastrointestinal dysfunction, malnutrition, and decreased immune function. Under medical supervision, proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole enteric-coated tablets or pantoprazole sodium enteric-coated tablets can be used to suppress gastric acid secretion and promote symptom improvement.
Patients are advised to seek timely medical evaluation, complete necessary examinations, and receive standardized treatment under a doctor’s guidance after diagnosis. Self-medication should be avoided to prevent improper treatment that could negatively affect recovery.
