After waking up from a nap, I had stomach pain and diarrhea, but felt better afterward.
Abdominal pain refers to stomachache, and diarrhea refers to loose stools. Experiencing abdominal pain followed by diarrhea that resolves after a nap may be caused by factors such as chilling, gastrointestinal dysfunction, or irritable bowel syndrome.
1. Chilling
This may occur if one consumes cold or raw foods before the nap, or fails to keep the abdomen warm during sleep, leading to abdominal chilling. Symptoms usually gradually improve after adjusting diet and ensuring proper warmth.
2. Gastrointestinal Dysfunction
Irregular eating habits or excessive mental stress may lead to gastrointestinal dysfunction and irregular gastric juice secretion. It is advisable to avoid smoking, alcohol, coffee, strong tea, and other stimulating substances to prevent symptom recurrence.
3. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Consuming strongly stimulating foods may trigger irritable bowel syndrome by stimulating intestinal nerves. It is recommended to maintain a light diet and avoid consuming large amounts of food at once.
In addition, conditions such as intestinal spasms could also be responsible. It is advised to address the issue according to the specific cause.
