Introduction
Whether there is still hope when edema is detected at 12 weeks of gestation during an NT scan depends on a comprehensive evaluation incorporating other test results. It is important to note that pregnant women should maintain a positive mindset when undergoing examinations. If abnormalities are found, they should follow their doctor's guidance for further testing or treatment to avoid adverse effects on fetal development and their own health.

At 12 weeks of pregnancy, the presence of nuchal translucency (NT) edema does not necessarily indicate a hopeless situation; further evaluation requires comprehensive analysis based on additional test results.

If an NT scan at 12 weeks shows fluid accumulation, indicating abnormal thickening of the fetal nuchal translucency, this may be due to chromosomal abnormalities, cardiac defects, or fetal soft tissue edema. However, such findings alone cannot definitively confirm fetal abnormalities. The pregnant woman should undergo amniocentesis to assess whether the fetus has normal chromosomes and thereby determine if fetal development is affected. If chromosomal testing results are normal, the pregnant woman should undergo another ultrasound scan around 18 weeks of gestation to evaluate whether the fetal heart and other structures are developing normally.

It is important to note that pregnant women should maintain a positive mindset before testing. If abnormalities are detected, they should follow medical advice for appropriate management to avoid adverse effects on fetal development and their own health.
