Introduction
Ginger-separated moxibustion generally involves placing slices of ginger on the skin, followed by applying moxa patches for treatment. It has effects of warming the meridians, dispelling cold, relieving vomiting and diarrhea, eliminating dampness, and alleviating pain. Note that this procedure should be performed by trained professionals. Fresh ginger is recommended to ensure effectiveness, and after moxibustion, it is important to keep the body warm and avoid exposure to drafts or cold.

Ginger-separated moxibustion generally refers to placing sliced ginger on the skin and then applying moxa patches for treatment. It has effects of warming meridians, dispelling cold, stopping vomiting and diarrhea, resolving dampness, and relieving pain. Note that ginger-separated moxibustion should be performed by trained professionals. The specific procedure is as follows:

1. Cut ginger into slices approximately 3–5 mm thick and 4–6 cm in diameter, and prick several small holes in each slice.

2. Shape moxa wool into firm conical forms, then place the moxa cones into the holes on the ginger slice.

3. Place the prepared ginger slice with moxa onto the designated skin area and light the moxa. Ensure the sensation remains comfortably warm on the skin.

4. When the moxa burns down to about one-third, a localized burning sensation may occur. After the moxa has completely burned out, use hemostatic forceps to remove the ash and extinguish it in a prepared cup of water. Then, continue the moxibustion using a clean ginger slice and fresh moxa according to the patient’s condition.

Note: Fresh ginger is recommended for ginger-separated moxibustion to ensure effectiveness. Additionally, after moxibustion, it is important to keep the body warm and avoid exposure to drafts or cold temperatures.
