Introduction
A urethral swab can be performed while lying down, and it is clinically used to examine urethral secretions. Before entering the examination room, the patient should clean the urethral opening with warm water and then dry it with a towel, maintaining local hygiene and dryness. Once in the examination room, the patient lies on the examination table in the lithotomy position, and the physician performs routine disinfection of the perineal area.

Urethral swab collection can be performed while lying down and is clinically used to examine urethral secretions. This procedure should be carried out at a正规 hospital, with the specific steps as follows:

1. Before entering the examination room, the patient should clean the urethral opening with warm water and dry it thoroughly with a towel to maintain local hygiene and dryness.

2. After entering the examination room, the patient lies on the examination table in the lithotomy position, and the doctor performs routine disinfection of the perineal area.

3. The urethral swab is moistened by dipping it into normal saline, then inserted into the urethra.

4. The swab is gently rotated evenly against the urethral mucosa to collect an adequate amount of secretion, then slowly and carefully withdrawn.

5. The collected swab is placed into a specimen container and sent to the laboratory for bacterial culture.

It is important that the patient avoid urinating for at least two hours before the test, as urination may wash away secretions and lead to inaccurate results.
