Introduction
Patients with corneal injuries can usually consume sesame paste, but should do so in moderation. Sesame paste is a food primarily made from black sesame seeds and contains abundant nutrients such as arachidic acid and vitamin E. Consuming an appropriate amount of sesame paste can help supplement the body's nutritional needs. Its consumption will not worsen the condition, and may even promote recovery.

It is generally safe to consume sesame paste when you have a corneal injury, but it should be eaten in moderation.

Sesame paste is primarily made from black sesame seeds and contains abundant nutrients such as arachidic acid, stearic acid, linoleic acid, iron, and vitamin E. Eating an appropriate amount of sesame paste can help supplement essential nutrients for the body. It also promotes metabolism, improves constipation, and supports liver function and blood production. Consuming sesame paste will not worsen the condition and may even aid recovery. Therefore, it is acceptable to eat sesame paste with a corneal injury. However, intake should be moderate—excessive consumption should be avoided to prevent placing extra burden on the gastrointestinal tract and causing digestive discomfort.

Corneal injuries may result from congenital factors, such as gene mutations leading to insufficient nutrition in the corneal basement membrane and epithelium, thereby damaging the cornea. They may also be caused by infectious factors—for example, when pathogens invade the corneal epithelial barrier, triggering inflammatory responses. Additionally, prolonged use of orthokeratology lenses cannot be ruled out as a cause of corneal injury. When a corneal injury occurs, treatment under medical guidance may include using eye drops such as carbomer or sodium hyaluronate.

During treatment, avoid consuming spicy or irritating foods such as chili peppers, onions, garlic, and mustard, to prevent worsening of the condition.
