Introduction
Lower abdominal discomfort lasting for half an hour upon waking in the morning may be caused by prolonged urine retention, prostatitis, cystitis, or other reasons. This can be managed through timely urination, dietary adjustments, or medication. Having a habit of drinking large amounts of water before sleep, combined with the inability to urinate promptly during sleep, can lead to increased bladder pressure and decreased kidney function over time.

Waking up in the morning with lower abdominal discomfort lasting about half an hour may be caused by prolonged urine retention, prostatitis, cystitis, or other reasons. This can be managed through timely urination, dietary adjustments, or medical treatment.

1. Prolonged Urine Retention

Having a habit of drinking large amounts of water before sleep, combined with the inability to urinate promptly during sleep, can lead to increased pressure within the bladder due to prolonged urine retention. This may impair kidney function and result in lower abdominal discomfort upon waking, typically lasting around half an hour. Usually, no specific treatment is required. It is recommended to develop healthy urination habits, avoid holding urine, and limit fluid intake before bedtime.

2. Prostatitis

Prostatitis is a common condition in men, often associated with unhealthy sexual practices or pathogen infection. Symptoms include lower abdominal soreness, frequent urination, urgency, and a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen. Treatment may involve taking anti-inflammatory and antibacterial medications such as levofloxacin tablets or azithromycin tablets as prescribed by a physician.

3. Cystitis

Cystitis can be acute or chronic and may result from infections caused by pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus or para-Escherichia coli, leading to inflammatory changes in the bladder. Symptoms may include lower abdominal discomfort, frequent urination, urgency, and painful urination. It is advisable to follow medical guidance and take antibiotics such as norfloxacin tablets or cefaclor tablets to reduce inflammation.

Besides the above causes, conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome may also produce similar symptoms and should be differentiated accordingly.
