Introduction
Swollen tonsils may result from frequently consuming spicy, irritating, or fried foods, combined with low water intake, leading to repeated irritation of the tonsils. It could also be due to decreased immunity and bacterial infection causing tonsillitis, continuously irritating the tonsils. Additionally, viral infections may lead to sinusitis, with viruses flowing back through the nasal cavity into the throat, causing inflammatory invasion of the tonsils.

Swollen tonsils may be caused by non-disease factors, or by medical conditions such as tonsillitis or sinusitis.

I. Non-disease factors

This may result from frequently consuming spicy, stimulating, or fried foods, combined with low fluid intake, leading to repeated irritation of the tonsils. Symptoms usually gradually improve after dietary adjustments, and no specific treatment is required.

II. Disease factors

1. Tonsillitis

Tonsillitis may occur when a person's immunity decreases and bacterial infection inflames the tonsils, with inflammatory agents continuously irritating the tissue. Treatment may include antibiotics such as amoxicillin capsules, cefixime dispersible tablets, or ampicillin capsules, taken as directed by a physician.

2. Sinusitis

Sinusitis may be triggered by a viral infection; viruses can flow backward from the nasal cavity into the throat, causing inflammation that affects the tonsils. Treatment may include nasal corticosteroid sprays such as mometasone furoate nasal spray, triamcinolone acetonide nasal spray, or fluticasone propionate nasal spray, used under medical supervision.

In addition, other conditions such as otitis media may also contribute. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
