What should a pregnant woman do if her nose is dry and painful?
Pregnant women experiencing dryness and pain in the nose should have treatment determined according to the underlying cause. Common causes include allergic rhinitis,
folliculitis, nasal vestibulitis, etc.
1. Allergic Rhinitis
If allergic rhinitis is triggered by exposure to allergens, antihistamine medications may be used under medical guidance, such as loratadine tablets, cetirizine hydrochloride tablets, or ebastine tablets, which help alleviate allergic reactions.
2. Folliculitis
If folliculitis results from bacterial invasion leading to increased sebaceous gland secretion and pore irritation, antibiotic ointments may be applied under a doctor's direction, such as fusidic acid cream, erythromycin ointment, or mupirocin ointment, to combat infection.
3. Nasal Vestibulitis
If nasal vestibulitis is caused by prolonged exposure to harmful dust or chronic inflammation irritating the nasal mucosa, nasal irrigation with physiological saline is recommended under medical advice, along with cephalosporin antibiotics such as cefixime dispersible tablets, cefuroxime axetil tablets, or cefradine capsules, to promote resolution of inflammation.
In addition, sinusitis could also be a possible cause. It is advisable to identify the specific cause and adopt appropriate treatment accordingly.
