Is there still hope if hCG rises slowly?
HCG rising slowly may still offer hope, but it could also mean there is no hope. The prognosis depends on whether the patient has other clinical symptoms and the underlying cause of the slow rise.
1. Hope remains
If HCG rises slowly during early embryonic development, but the fetal pole and gestational sac are developing well and the patient shows no obvious clinical symptoms, supportive treatment to maintain the pregnancy is generally recommended, and in most cases normal progression can be achieved.
2. Poor prognosis
If HCG rises slowly, the gestational sac develops poorly, or an ectopic pregnancy is present, especially when the patient experiences lower abdominal pain, maintaining the pregnancy is generally not recommended, and timely termination of pregnancy should be considered.
During early pregnancy, monitoring HCG levels helps assess fetal development. However, decisions about the viability of the pregnancy should also incorporate ultrasound findings and clinical symptoms.
