What causes frequent milk regurgitation?
Frequent milk leakage may be caused by physiological factors, such as an overabundance of breast milk, or by pathological factors, such as mammary gland hyperplasia or pituitary prolactinoma.
1. Physiological Factors
Women who are breastfeeding and have an ample milk supply may experience frequent milk leakage, which is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not require treatment.
2. Pathological Factors
1. Mammary Gland Hyperplasia
Patients with mammary gland hyperplasia often notice abnormal-colored discharge from the nipples, which may be accompanied by an unpleasant odor. It is recommended to improve lifestyle habits and maintain regular daily routines. Under medical guidance, medications such as Xiaoyao Pills, Vitamin E tablets, or Ru'an Tablets may be used. In some cases, surgical removal of the lesion may be necessary.
2. Pituitary Prolactinoma
This is a tumor in the pituitary gland that causes excessive secretion of prolactin, leading to galactorrhea (milk discharge). Surgical removal of the tumor under a doctor's guidance can help alleviate symptoms.
Besides the above causes, frequent milk leakage could also result from conditions such as breast cancer. Women should pay attention to breast hygiene, and if symptoms persist, they should seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital.
