Introduction
Around the fourth month of pregnancy, pain around the navel may be caused by physiological factors or pathological conditions such as intestinal spasms or chronic enteritis. At four months pregnant, the uterus enlarges and the pelvic organs shift into the abdominal cavity, which may stretch nearby ligaments and intestines, causing localized pulling pain.

Abdominal pain around the navel at 4 months of pregnancy may be caused by physiological factors, or it could result from pathological conditions such as intestinal spasm or chronic enteritis.

I. Physiological Factors

At four months of pregnancy, the uterus enlarges and shifts from the pelvic cavity into the abdominal cavity, which may stretch local ligaments and intestines, causing surrounding discomfort or pain. This is a normal physiological phenomenon and generally does not require treatment.

II. Pathological Factors

1. Intestinal Spasm

If a pregnant woman fails to keep warm and her intestines become chilled, it may trigger intestinal spasms and cause pain. It is recommended to apply appropriate local heat therapy to help relieve symptoms. Additionally, antispasmodic medications may be used under medical guidance, such as cimetropium bromide tablets, belladonna tablets, or racemic hyoscine hydrobromide tablets.

2. Chronic Enteritis

If a pregnant woman has chronic enteritis, she may experience symptoms such as bloating and abdominal pain. It is advisable to adjust her diet appropriately and consume more easily digestible foods. When necessary, medications such as amoxicillin capsules, cefaclor tablets, or berberine tablets may be taken under a doctor's supervision to improve symptoms.

Besides the above causes, conditions such as threatened miscarriage could also lead to similar symptoms. Therefore, it is recommended to obtain a clear diagnosis before initiating treatment.
