Menstruation, commonly referred to as "having one's period," is a significant physiological process in women of reproductive age. Playing badminton during menstruation usually has negative effects and may lead to discomfort.
Menstruation occurs due to the contraction of blood vessels in the uterine lining, resulting in tissue necrosis and shedding, which causes bleeding. During this period, adequate rest is essential, and strenuous physical activities should be avoided. Playing badminton may stimulate the uterus and cause excessive contractions, potentially increasing menstrual flow. Additionally, menstrual blood might flow backward through the fallopian tubes into the pelvic cavity. Since menstrual blood contains fragments of endometrial tissue, these fragments could implant onto organs within the pelvis, leading to endometriosis and causing lower abdominal pain. Therefore, playing badminton during menstruation typically poses health risks.
During menstruation, it is important to avoid intense exercises such as running and jumping rope. Sufficient rest is necessary, and one should not overexert themselves.
