Introduction
Generally, gastrin testing is required in cases such as excessive stomach acid, atrophic gastritis, or gastric tumors, and related treatments are based on the test results. In addition, patients should avoid consuming stimulant beverages, such as alcohol and coffee, for 24 hours prior to the gastrin test. Patients should also maintain a positive mindset and avoid excessive mental stress.

Generally, gastrin testing is required in cases such as excessive stomach acid, atrophic gastritis, or gastric tumors, and related treatments are determined based on the test results.

1. Excessive Stomach Acid

If a patient produces too much gastric acid, it may lead to peptic ulcers. If ulcers recur frequently, they may become difficult to heal, possibly due to excessive gastrin secretion. In such cases, patients should undergo tests for gastrin-34 and total gastrin at a hospital.

2. Atrophic Gastritis

Patients with atrophic gastritis may experience insufficient gastrin secretion. It is recommended that these patients undergo a gastrin-17 test at the hospital to confirm diagnosis.

3. Gastric Tumors

Gastric neuroendocrine tumors may result in reduced gastric acid production and trigger the body to secrete large amounts of gastrin to promote acid secretion, leading to elevated gastrin levels. A total gastrin test is necessary in such cases.

In addition, patients should avoid consuming stimulant beverages such as alcohol and coffee within 24 hours before undergoing gastrin testing, and should maintain a calm and positive mental state, avoiding excessive anxiety.
