Introduction
G6PD deficiency patients can generally bathe with honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) without adverse effects, as it has heat-clearing and detoxifying properties. However, severe episodes of G6PD deficiency may lead to kidney failure, which can be life-threatening if not promptly treated. If patients experience any adverse reactions after bathing with honeysuckle water, they should immediately go to the hospital for evaluation and receive active treatment based on the underlying cause.

Fava bean disease patients can generally bathe with honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica), which will not adversely affect them and may provide heat-clearing and detoxifying benefits.

Fava bean disease, also known as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, is a hereditary condition. Consuming fava beans or fava bean products can easily trigger hemolytic disorders such as hemolytic anemia. During an episode, symptoms commonly include dizziness and fever. Treatment may involve medications such as prednisolone acetate tablets or hydrocortisone acetate tablets under medical supervision. In severe cases, blood transfusion may be required. Honeysuckle is a commonly used traditional Chinese herb that can be taken medicinally or consumed as food, with a sweet taste. It has properties of clearing heat, detoxifying, dispelling wind pathogens, and promoting circulation of meridians. Clinically, it is frequently used to treat conditions such as boils, carbuncles, sore throat, and erysipelas.

However, fava bean disease patients should not ingest honeysuckle, as it may trigger acute hemolysis and worsen the condition. Nevertheless, bathing with honeysuckle-infused water is safe and may help prevent prickly heat rash.

In addition, severe episodes of fava bean disease may lead to renal failure, and without prompt treatment, it can become life-threatening. If any adverse reactions occur after bathing with honeysuckle water, patients should seek immediate medical evaluation and receive appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause.
