Introduction
Type 1 transformation zone of the cervix is a pathological condition. The cervical transformation zone is generally located between the external and internal cervical os, at the junction where squamous epithelial cells meet columnar epithelial cells. A type 1 transformation zone indicates that the patient may have inflammation, cervical ectropion (columnar epithelial displacement), or similar conditions, thus constituting a lesion. Patients in this condition may experience increased vaginal discharge and abnormal vaginal bleeding.

The cervical transformation zone is generally located between the external and internal os of the cervix, at the junction of squamous and columnar epithelial cells. A type 1 cervical transformation zone indicates that the patient may have inflammation, cervical ectropion (columnar cell displacement), or similar conditions, thus representing a pathological state. Patients in this condition may experience symptoms such as increased vaginal discharge, abnormal vaginal bleeding, and lower abdominal pain. After identifying the specific cause, targeted treatment should be undertaken—for instance, for cervical ectropion, patients can visit a qualified medical facility where treatments such as electrocautery, cryotherapy, or laser therapy may be used to correct the condition. Additionally, a type 1 cervical transformation zone helps rule out cervical cancer; therefore, regular colposcopic examinations in daily life are recommended to screen for any abnormalities in the cervical transformation zone.

During examination of a type 1 cervical transformation zone, some damage to the vaginal mucosa may occur. It is advised to abstain from sexual intercourse shortly after the procedure, avoid strenuous physical activities, and refrain from smoking and alcohol consumption.
