Where is the pulmonary valve area located?
The pulmonary valve is generally located between the pulmonary artery and the right ventricle.
The main function of the pulmonary valve is to prevent blood that has entered the pulmonary artery from flowing back into the right ventricle; thus, it is situated between the pulmonary artery and the right ventricle. If blood regurgitates back into the right ventricle, it may be due to conditions such as infective endocarditis, rheumatic isolated pulmonary valve inflammation, or congenital absence of the pulmonary artery, all of which can lead to elevated pressure in the pulmonary artery and result in pulmonary valve insufficiency. When treating patients, the underlying cause must be specifically addressed. For example, infective endocarditis caused by viral, fungal, or bacterial infections can be treated with medications such as cephalosporin enzymes, vancomycin hydrochloride for injection, and gentamicin sulfate injection. However, these medications must be used under the guidance of a qualified physician.
Patients with diseases affecting the pulmonary valve area are advised to avoid excessive physical exercise in daily life, maintain a regular lifestyle, and avoid staying up late. Diet should focus on balanced nutrition, avoiding spicy and irritating foods, and abstaining from smoking and alcohol consumption.
