Polymerase chain reaction can generate large quantities of DNA copies, enabling detection and analysis at specific regions of the DNA sequence.

1. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

DNA testing involves analyzing DNA to determine the genotype associated with a specific sample. The polymerase chain reaction can generate large quantities of DNA copies, enabling detection and analysis at specific regions of the DNA sequence. The principle of DNA testing is to confirm biological relationships, such as parentage, by comparing whether the DNA patterns of child and parents match.

2. Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP)

This method uses specific restriction enzymes to cut DNA, producing characteristic DNA fragments at defined DNA sequences. Common applications of DNA testing include personal identification, kinship analysis, disease diagnosis, and genetic disorder screening. These applications rely on the specificity and stability of DNA sequences for accurate determination.

3. Nucleic Acid Hybridization

In this method, a DNA probe that matches the target DNA sequence is added to the DNA sample, and binding between the probe and the sample DNA is observed. The principle of DNA testing here involves leveraging the characteristics of DNA sequences, comparing similarities and differences in DNA sequences to determine relationships and sequence compatibility.
