Introduction
Generally, artificial insemination is not possible without ovaries. The ovaries are one of the female reproductive organs located in the pelvic cavity, responsible for producing eggs and female hormones. Each woman's body contains two ovaries, each about the size of an almond, oval-shaped, and typically light pink or gray in color. The ovaries consist of several structures, including follicles, corpus luteum, and cysts.

The ovaries are one of the female reproductive organs located in the pelvic cavity, responsible for producing eggs and female hormones. Each woman normally has two ovaries, each about the size of an almond, oval-shaped, and typically light pink or gray in color. The ovaries consist of several structures, including follicles, the corpus luteum, and cysts. Eggs develop from immature oocytes contained within the follicles. When a follicle ruptures, it releases an egg and forms the corpus luteum. If a patient lacks ovaries, natural conception is impossible. Since assisted reproduction requires both eggs and sperm, the absence of ovaries means no eggs can be produced. Therefore, women without ovaries cannot undergo artificial insemination using their own eggs.

If a patient needs to have her ovaries removed due to reproductive organ cancer or other surgical reasons, doctors may recommend freezing eggs or ovarian tissue in advance, so that she may later pursue pregnancy through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
