Can you get pregnant with bilateral salpingitis?
With proper treatment, pregnancy is possible in cases of bilateral salpingitis; however, if the condition is left untreated and leads to tubal blockage, infertility may occur.
1. Pregnancy is possible
This condition is often caused by poor hygiene or ascending infection, leading to local edema due to inflammation, which may affect ovulation. However, with timely treatment and resolution of the inflammation, the fallopian tubes can regain patency, allowing conception. In such cases, fertility is usually not significantly affected.
2. Pregnancy may not be possible
If salpingitis is not adequately treated, excessive tissue proliferation or persistent edema may result in blocked fallopian tubes. Tubal obstruction prevents the release and transport of eggs, thereby causing female infertility.
Patients diagnosed with bilateral salpingitis are advised to seek prompt treatment to prevent tubal blockage and preserve fertility. A light, balanced diet should be maintained in daily life, avoiding excessive consumption of spicy or irritating foods. Any underlying endocrine disorders should also be actively managed.
