How to correct a fetus in breech position during pregnancy
When a pregnant woman's fetus is in a breech position (buttocks down), the position can be corrected through methods such as the knee-chest position, external cephalic version, and laser irradiation.
1. Knee-Chest Position
The knee-chest position involves having the pregnant woman kneel with her thighs perpendicular to the bed surface while leaning her upper body forward onto the bed. This method requires consistent, long-term practice and is primarily recommended for women in the mid-to-late stages of pregnancy, showing relatively good effectiveness.
2. External Cephalic Version
External cephalic version corrects fetal position manually by applying external pressure on the abdomen. This method works quickly but carries certain risks, such as umbilical cord entanglement or placental abruption. Therefore, it should only be performed under a doctor’s supervision to avoid harm to both mother and fetus.
3. Laser Irradiation
This method uses the thermal effect of laser stimulation on specific acupoints to induce mild uterine contractions, thereby facilitating fetal repositioning. It is mainly suitable for women in late pregnancy.
In addition, moxibustion may also be used to correct breech presentation. Pregnant women are advised to choose an appropriate method under medical guidance.
