Introduction
Females may develop costochondritis due to long-term heavy physical labor, causing chronic strain and resulting in aseptic inflammation of the costal cartilage. It can also result from a strong impact to the ribs, leading to injury of the surrounding soft tissues and subsequent inflammatory response. When the body's immunity is low, it becomes more susceptible to viral invasion; if viruses infect the rib area, this can also lead to rib inflammation. Prompt medical evaluation is necessary for accurate diagnosis.

There is no clinical evidence suggesting that women are more prone to costochondritis. However, women may develop costochondritis due to physiological factors such as engaging in heavy physical labor, or due to pathological causes such as trauma or viral infection. The specific analysis is as follows:

I. Physiological Factors

Long-term engagement in heavy physical labor can easily lead to chronic strain of the costal cartilage, resulting in aseptic inflammation. Adequate rest and proper warmth preservation generally help promote recovery from inflammation.

II. Disease-related Factors

1. Trauma

After a strong impact to the rib area, soft tissues surrounding the ribs may be damaged, leading to an inflammatory response. It is important to get sufficient rest and avoid pressure on the painful area. If necessary, anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications such as diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets, celecoxib capsules, or ibuprofen sustained-release capsules may be taken under medical supervision.

2. Viral Infection

When the body's immunity is low, it becomes vulnerable to viral invasion. If viruses infect the rib area, they may cause rib inflammation. It is recommended to take antiviral medications such as ganciclovir tablets, ribavirin tablets, or acyclovir tablets under a doctor’s guidance to alleviate symptoms.

When experiencing bodily discomfort in daily life, individuals should seek timely medical attention, identify the exact cause, and follow medical advice for appropriate treatment, avoiding self-medication.
