Remedial measures after sexual intercourse during the postpartum recovery period
Having sexual intercourse during the post-minor-abortion recovery period (commonly known as "small坐月子") may lead to infections or unintended pregnancy. Remedial measures mainly include anti-inflammatory treatment and appropriate contraception. Specific analysis is as follows:
1. Anti-inflammatory treatment
During the post-minor-abortion recovery period, both the body and the uterus sustain varying degrees of damage. Engaging in sexual activity too early can allow pathogenic bacteria to enter the uterine cavity, leading to inflammatory infections. After intercourse, follow medical advice to take medications such as amoxicillin capsules, levofloxacin capsules, or metronidazole tablets to prevent infection.
2. Appropriate contraception
Ovulation recovery time varies individually during the post-minor-abortion period. If ovarian function has already resumed ovulation, sexual intercourse could result in pregnancy. In such cases, timely contraceptive measures should be taken to prevent another pregnancy. Emergency contraceptive pills such as levonorgestrel tablets or mifepristone tablets may be used under a doctor's guidance.
Sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited for at least one month after abortion. If intercourse has already occurred, closely monitor your health. Seek prompt gynecological medical attention if symptoms such as abdominal pain or abnormal vaginal bleeding occur.
