Introduction
The hypothalamus and pituitary gland together are referred to as the hypothalamic-pituitary system. To evaluate the hypothalamic-pituitary system, individuals can visit a local hospital for physical examination, blood tests, and imaging studies. A physical examination helps clearly determine whether the patient's physical development differs from that of a normal individual. Blood tests and imaging studies can directly assess hormone levels in the body and detect intracranial abnormalities such as hamartomas.

The hypothalamus and pituitary gland together are referred to as the hypothalamic-pituitary system. This system can be evaluated through convenient medical examinations at hospitals, including physical examination, blood tests, and imaging studies, allowing for accurate diagnosis of underlying causes. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Physical Examination

Doctors may measure the patient's body temperature, perform visual field testing, assess reproductive function, and record height and weight. These evaluations can directly determine whether there are any deviations from normal development compared to peers of the same age.

2. Blood Tests

Blood tests can clearly evaluate various hormone levels in the body. Because hormones secreted by the hypothalamic-pituitary system regulate multiple bodily functions, measuring specific hormones—such as cortisol, adrenal corticotropic hormone (ACTH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)—can help identify hormonal abnormalities.

3. Imaging Studies

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is required to examine whether structural abnormalities such as hypothalamic hamartomas are present. Conditions like hydrocephalus or hypothalamic compression can also be detected through MRI.

After completing these tests, if a disorder of the hypothalamic-pituitary system is diagnosed, doctors will promptly initiate appropriate treatment, which may include medication or surgical intervention.
