Introduction
Patent ductus arteriosus closure is a level 4 surgical procedure, and patients with patent ductus arteriosus should undergo surgery as early as possible. According to the ICD-9-CM-3 surgical classification system, patent ductus arteriosus closure falls under level 4 interventional vascular surgery due to relatively high surgical risks, procedural complexity, technical difficulty, and high treatment costs.

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure is a level 4 surgical procedure, and patients with PDA should undergo surgical treatment as early as possible.

According to the ICD-9-CM-3 surgical classification system, PDA closure is categorized as a level 4 interventional vascular procedure. This classification is due to relatively high surgical risks, procedural complexity, technical difficulty, and high treatment costs.

PDA closure is a minimally invasive method for treating congenital heart disease caused by patent ductus arteriosus. The procedure involves puncturing a blood vessel in the groin, inserting a catheter, and performing pressure measurements and hemodynamic assessments. Subsequently, a closure device is delivered via the catheter to the site of the ductus arteriosus and deployed to seal the abnormal passage.

Patients diagnosed with PDA should receive timely surgical intervention. Without prompt treatment, abnormal blood flow may lead to structural changes in the heart and blood vessels, resulting in irreversible damage. In severe cases, this can lead to heart failure or malignant arrhythmias.
