What are the causes of low amniotic fluid in late pregnancy?
In general, low amniotic fluid in the late stages of pregnancy may be caused by physiological factors or pathological conditions such as chronic hypertension or fetal kidney malformations. It is important to seek timely medical evaluation and receive appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause. The specific analysis is as follows:
1. Physiological Causes
If a pregnant woman has inadequate water intake or experiences excessive sweating in daily life, it may lead to significant dehydration and subsequently reduced amniotic fluid levels. This is considered a normal physiological cause. It is recommended to increase fluid intake to help alleviate the condition.
2. Pathological Causes
1) Chronic Hypertension
This often occurs in women who already have primary diseases such as hypertension. During pregnancy, insufficient nutrient supply may easily lead to chronic hypertension. Elevated blood pressure can reduce blood flow, which in turn may result in decreased amniotic fluid. If necessary, medications such as nifedipine tablets or labetalol hydrochloride tablets may be used under medical supervision.
2) Fetal Kidney Malformation
Fetuses also urinate while in the uterus. If congenital abnormalities lead to fetal kidney malformations, the fetus may be unable to urinate normally, resulting in reduced amniotic fluid. In severe cases of malformation, termination of pregnancy may be considered as a treatment option.
Besides the above, reduced amniotic fluid may also be caused by placental abruption. If any related symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is advised, and proper management should be carried out under a doctor's guidance.
