Introduction
Malignant ovarian cysts can be observed on CT imaging to have smooth walls; however, when a cyst becomes malignant, the cyst wall becomes irregular and thickened. On CT scans, the central area of a malignant ovarian cyst shows mild to moderate enhancement, while the peripheral region demonstrates more pronounced enhancement. Malignant ovarian cysts may invade surrounding ovarian tissues, leading to abnormally increased density or blurring in these areas.

Malignant ovarian cysts appear on CT as irregular or thickened cyst walls, uneven enhancement, and infiltration of ovarian tissue. Specific details are as follows:

1. Irregular or thickened cyst wall

On CT imaging, benign ovarian cysts typically present with smooth walls. In contrast, malignant cysts exhibit irregular and thickened walls.

2. Uneven enhancement

During CT scanning, malignant ovarian cysts show mild to moderate enhancement in the central area, while the peripheral regions demonstrate more pronounced enhancement.

3. Infiltration of ovarian tissue

Malignant ovarian cysts may invade surrounding ovarian tissues, leading to abnormally increased density or blurred margins.

In addition, other possible features include internal septations, hemorrhage within the malignant cyst, and cyst enlargement. Patients are advised to seek timely medical attention if they experience any symptoms or discomfort.
