Introduction
Symptoms of Premature Aging: 1. Waking up too early, with progressive loss of bodily homeostasis; 2. Decreased libido and virtually no sexual activity; 3. Frequent leg pain, along with persistent low back and generalized back pain that fails to resolve; 4. Yellowing of the sclera and progressively increasing cloudiness of the eyes; 5. Frequent forgetfulness and gradual decline in memory; 6. Early onset of chronic diseases—such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes.

No one can halt the passage of time—everyone will inevitably age. Yet, in daily life, there are individuals who, despite being relatively young, appear significantly older than their actual age. Such individuals may be suffering from progeria (premature aging syndrome). So, what are the symptoms of premature aging? Below, we provide answers to this question.

Symptoms of Premature Aging

1. Waking up excessively early

Going to bed early and rising early is indeed a healthy sleep habit. However, some people wake up unusually early—and afterward feel drowsy soon after eating, prompting an urge to nap again. This pattern suggests a progressive loss of physiological balance and may indicate premature aging.

2. Decreased libido

Many couples observe that sexual desire peaks in the twenties but gradually declines starting in the thirties or forties—a normal part of aging. However, if someone experiences virtually no sexual activity, this may signal premature aging.

3. Frequent leg pain

Lower back and neck pain are increasingly common among young adults. However, if even minor physical exertion triggers persistent leg pain that fails to resolve readily, this may reflect early signs of physiological decline.

4. Yellowing of the sclera

The phrase “yellowing of the eyes with age” is widely recognized—the term “yellowing” refers specifically to the whites of the eyes (sclera). Diminished ocular brightness signals premature aging. Compare, for instance, the striking clarity of children’s eyes versus the increasing dullness often seen in adults, likely due to accumulated occupational and lifestyle stressors.

5. Frequent forgetfulness

As people age, memory naturally begins to decline—recent events may be forgotten quickly. This reflects diminishing cognitive processing speed and serves as a clear hallmark of biological aging.

6. Early onset of chronic diseases

Conditions such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes—traditionally termed “diseases of aging”—are increasingly affecting younger populations. Poor lifestyle habits—including chronic sleep deprivation and irregular dietary patterns—may contribute significantly to premature aging.

The above outlines key symptoms associated with premature aging. We hope this information proves helpful.
