Introduction
Sinusitis and adenoid hypertrophy are two different conditions. Symptoms of sinusitis include nasal discharge, nasal congestion, dizziness, etc., while symptoms of adenoid hypertrophy include coughing, hearing loss, and snoring during sleep. In addition, sinusitis may present with nasal bleeding, whereas adenoid hypertrophy may lead to adenoidal facies. Immediate medical attention at a hospital is required once symptoms occur.

In general, sinusitis and adenoid hypertrophy are two different conditions. Symptoms of sinusitis include nasal discharge, nasal congestion, dizziness, etc., while symptoms of adenoid hypertrophy include coughing, hearing loss, snoring during sleep, etc. A detailed analysis is as follows:

I. Sinusitis

1. Nasal Discharge

Due to continuous bacterial growth in the nasal cavity, inflammatory exudates increase, resulting in a runny nose. As the condition progresses, thick, sticky nasal discharge may occur.

2. Nasal Congestion

During the illness, nasal mucosal membranes become congested, increasing secretions and causing nasal blockage, which affects normal breathing.

3. Dizziness

If not effectively treated, prolonged inflammation can irritate and narrow the nasal passages, impairing normal ventilation and leading to cerebral hypoxia, thus causing symptoms such as dizziness and headaches.

II. Adenoid Hypertrophy

1. Coughing

Enlarged adenoids can cause nasal obstruction, preventing secretions from draining through the nasal cavity. When these secretions flow downward, they may irritate the pharyngeal mucosa, leading to paroxysmal coughing and throat itching.

2. Hearing Loss

When the oropharynx compresses the Eustachian tube, it may obstruct the tube. In severe cases, infection can spread into the middle ear, triggering inflammatory responses in the ear, such as ear pain and tinnitus, eventually leading to hearing loss.

3. Snoring During Sleep

Long-term airway obstruction prevents smooth airflow during sleep, and vibrations of the local mucosa result in snoring.

In addition, sinusitis may also present with epistaxis (nosebleeds), while adenoid hypertrophy may lead to adenoidal facies. Immediate medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital are necessary once symptoms develop.
