2. Different Causes

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is associated with perinatal asphyxia, severe lung infections, and similar factors. After onset, changes in consciousness and muscle tone are commonly observed. In contrast, the causes of cerebral palsy are more complex—such as periventricular leukomalacia or intraventricular hemorrhage—which can both lead to brain damage and result in paralysis.

3. Different Symptoms

In the early stages, infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy may exhibit excitement, irritability, and varying degrees of tremors in limbs and chin. As the condition worsens, symptoms such as drowsiness and delayed responsiveness may appear. Cerebral palsy leads to increased muscle tone in newborns; as it progresses, abnormal postures develop in the limbs, impairing normal motor function.
