Introduction
Tenosynovitis can occur in the wrist joint and metacarpophalangeal joints. In the early stages, symptoms are mild and may include pain, morning stiffness, and functional impairment, but hardening is generally not observed. As the condition progresses and if treatment is delayed, congestion and edema develop at the tendon sheath site, with the tissue becoming firm and tender, accompanied by symptoms such as tenderness, snapping, and crepitus.

Tendon sheath inflammation may become hard depending on the severity of the condition. In the early stages, symptoms are usually mild and the area is not hard. However, if the condition progresses continuously, the affected tissue may become firm. Detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Not hard

Tenosynovitis is a chronic aseptic inflammatory change, caused primarily by mechanical friction, commonly occurring in the wrist joint or metacarpophalangeal joints. In the early stage, symptoms are mild and may include pain, morning stiffness, and functional impairment. Generally, the tissue does not become notably hard at this stage.

2. Becomes hard

As the disease progresses and timely treatment is lacking, congestion and edema develop in the tendon sheath area, causing the tissue to become firm. This is often accompanied by tenderness and snapping sensations. In severe cases, disuse atrophy of the finger or wrist joint may occur.

Tenosynovitis requires prompt medical treatment. It is important to strengthen care of the affected area and avoid excessive fatigue.
