Introduction
Whether empty sella turcica will progressively worsen depends on the individual patient's condition. If it is a simple empty sella, it typically does not become increasingly severe. However, if associated with other diseases, the condition may progressively deteriorate. Empty sella turcica refers to a condition in which there is no tumor or other space-occupying lesion within the sella turcica, but cerebrospinal fluid in the sellar region shows expansion or cystic bulging.

Whether empty sella turcica will progressively worsen depends on the individual patient's condition. In cases of simple empty sella, it typically does not become increasingly severe. However, if associated with other diseases, the condition may progressively deteriorate. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. No progression

Empty sella turcica refers to a condition in which there is no tumor or other space-occupying lesion within the sella turcica, but cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the region shows expansion or cystic bulging. Normally, empty sella is a benign anatomical variant unrelated to other diseases and does not adversely affect health. With maintenance of good daily habits, the condition usually does not worsen.

2. Progression possible

However, if empty sella occurs in conjunction with other conditions—such as craniopharyngioma, meningioma, disturbances in CSF dynamics, or following surgery for other tumors—it may lead to CSF retention or increased CSF accumulation. This can result in symptoms such as headache, vision loss, blurred vision, and dizziness, thereby causing the empty sella condition to worsen.

Empty sella turcica generally does not spontaneously progress or change. If physical discomfort occurs, patients should promptly seek medical attention at a hospital and undergo targeted treatment as advised by their physician.
