Introduction
Eye drops containing epinephrine-like substances generally include compound tropicamide eye drops, naphazoline hydrochloride eye drops, and brimonidine tartrate eye drops. Compound tropicamide eye drops are a combination preparation that contains phenylephrine hydrochloride. After administration, it helps relax the intraocular sphincter muscle, leading to pupil dilation, and also has a certain nerve-paralyzing effect.

Eye drops containing adrenaline-like components generally include compound tropicamide eye drops, naphazoline hydrochloride eye drops, and brimonidine tartrate eye drops, with specific details as follows:

1. Compound Tropicamide Eye Drops

Compound tropicamide eye drops are a combination preparation that contains phenylephrine hydrochloride. After administration, it helps relax the iris sphincter muscle, leading to pupil dilation. It also has a certain nerve-paralyzing effect and is clinically used primarily for diagnostic pupillary dilation.

2. Naphazoline Hydrochloride Eye Drops

Naphazoline hydrochloride eye drops belong to antihistamine medications. They bind to specific receptors in blood vessels, helping constrict blood vessels and alleviate congestion caused by infection. These eye drops are primarily used in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis.

3. Brimonidine Tartrate Eye Drops

The main active ingredient in brimonidine tartrate eye drops is brimonidine tartrate, which appears as a pale yellow-green liquid. It is an alpha-adrenergic receptor agonist that reduces aqueous humor production and enhances uveoscleral outflow of glucose, thereby helping to lower intraocular pressure.

In addition to the above-mentioned eye drops, others such as naphazoline/pheniramine/tetrahydrozoline (Naphcon) eye drops and carteolol hydrochloride eye drops are also available. Patients should use these medications under the guidance of a physician and must not adjust dosages on their own. During treatment, prolonged eye use should be avoided to prevent interference with recovery.
