Introduction
If your hand is cut by a fruit knife, seek medical attention immediately. The wound should be treated with disinfectants, bleeding controlled, and surgical sutures applied as needed. If the wound is shallow and the surface is smooth, clean the wound and surrounding skin with a disinfectant. Anti-infection medication may also be required. During recovery, avoid exposing the wound to water to prevent infection, maintain a light diet, and get adequate rest.
If your hand is cut by a fruit knife, you should seek medical attention immediately. The wound may require treatment such as disinfection, hemostasis (stopping the bleeding), and surgical suturing. Specific measures are analyzed as follows:
1. Disinfection with antiseptic agents
If the wound is shallow and has smooth edges, after cleaning the area, you can directly apply an appropriate amount of general antibacterial dressing and cover it with a bandage for simple wrapping. Wipe the wound and surrounding skin with antiseptics such as chlorhexidine or iodophor to disinfect the area.
2. Hemostasis (Stopping the bleeding)
If bleeding cannot be controlled, gently press a clean gauze pad onto the wound and maintain pressure for at least 5 minutes until the bleeding stops. Common hemostatic methods include direct compression, compression of the subclavian artery, or arterial ligation.
3. Surgical suturing
If the wound is long and deep, or if there is damage to nerves or blood vessels, surgical suturing will be necessary. After suturing, disinfect the area again and then dress the wound to provide compression while keeping it dry and clean.
