Introduction
Persistent dull pain at the incision site after cholecystectomy may be caused by wound healing, nerve damage, infection, or other reasons. The surgery causes certain trauma to the body, and during the healing process, local pain can result from tissue stretching and irritation. If no other symptoms are present, this is considered normal and such symptoms usually gradually resolve within a few weeks.

Dull pain at the incision site after cholecystectomy may be caused by wound healing, nerve damage, infection, or other reasons. A detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Wound Healing

Surgery causes certain trauma to the body. During the healing process, local pain may occur due to tissue stretching and irritation. If no other symptoms are present, this is considered a normal phenomenon and usually resolves gradually within several weeks. Symptoms can be relieved through adequate rest and local heat application.

2. Nerve Damage

Nerves near the surgical site may be damaged during the procedure, leading to pain at the incision area. In such cases, medications that promote nerve repair—such as mecobalamin tablets and vitamin B1 tablets—may be used under medical guidance.

3. Infection

If proper local care is not maintained after surgery, the incision site may become infected. Inflammatory secretions can then irritate local nerves, causing symptoms such as swelling, pain, and redness. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications such as amoxicillin capsules and ibuprofen sustained-release capsules may be used according to medical advice.

In addition to the above causes, pain may also result from hypertrophic scarring, adhesions, or incomplete removal of the gallbladder. If pain persists for a prolonged period or is accompanied by other symptoms, prompt medical evaluation and further treatment are recommended.
