How to remove a nasobiliary drainage tube
If serum amylase and urine amylase levels are normal, the patient has no chills or high fever, and bile drainage is unobstructed, the nasobiliary tube can be slowly removed directly. Tube removal must be performed by a trained medical professional. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Position the patient in a supine position. The healthcare provider stands on one side of the patient and provides appropriate psychological support to ensure cooperation.
2. Place a kidney tray under the patient's jaw and remove the securing tape or fixation material.
3. The healthcare provider puts on sterile gloves, uses gauze to grasp the nasobiliary tube at the nostril, and gently removes the entire tube smoothly and steadily.
4. Wrap the removed tube with gauze and place it into the kidney tray. Clean the patient’s mouth, nose, and face, and wipe away any adhesive residue from the tape.
In daily life, patients should ensure adequate rest, avoid strenuous physical activity, and consume foods high in dietary fiber.
