1. Empty the bladder. The patient assumes the lithotomy position, and the external genitalia and vagina are disinfected.
2. Perform a bimanual examination on the female patient to determine the size, texture, and shape of the uterus.
3. After examination, insert a speculum into the vagina to disinfect the cervix and vaginal canal. Use a cervical clamp to gently pull the cervix outward, keeping the uterus horizontal.
