Video on how to use an electronic blood glucose meter
An electronic blood glucose meter is a medical device used to measure the concentration of glucose in the human body, serving the purpose of monitoring and measuring blood sugar levels. The specific operating steps are as follows:
1. Preparation: Take out the lancet, electronic blood glucose meter, and blood glucose test strips. Keep away from other electronic devices to avoid interference with the test results.
2. Disinfection: Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water or mild soap, then use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to disinfect the fingertip chosen for blood sampling.
3. Blood collection: Wipe off any remaining alcohol with a dry cotton swab. Adjust the lancet depth according to skin thickness. Press the button to activate the lancet and puncture the fingertip. Wipe away the first drop of blood and allow the test strip to fully absorb the second drop via capillary action.
4. Reading the result: Apply gentle pressure with a cotton swab on the punctured fingertip while waiting for the electronic blood glucose meter to display the blood glucose value.
5. Cleanup: After testing, properly dispose of or store used supplies.
When using an electronic blood glucose meter, iodine-containing antiseptics (such as povidone-iodine or tincture of iodine) should not be used to disinfect the skin, as they may affect the accuracy of the test results.
