Plasma tonsillectomy procedure steps

Generally, plasma tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure used to treat adenoid and tonsillar hypertrophy in children. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Position the patient supine, perform endotracheal intubation under general anesthesia, and drape the surgical field.

2. Make an incision in the palatopharyngeal arch to expose the oropharynx.

3. Gradually dissect the tonsil along with its capsule from the lateral pharyngeal fascia, starting from the superior pole down to the inferior pole.

4. Use a tonsil snare to encircle the dissected tonsil.

5. Cut or crush the tissue connecting the inferior pole of the tonsil and surrounding mucosal tissues to completely remove the tonsil from the tonsillar fossa.

6. After complete removal of the tonsil, apply pressure to achieve hemostasis and complete the procedure.
