Post-Abortion Precautions and Recovery
Abortion refers to the termination of pregnancy before 28 weeks’ gestation, when the fetal weight is less than 1,000 grams. Abortion can significantly impact a woman’s physical health; therefore, proper post-abortion care and appropriate recovery measures are essential. Key post-abortion precautions include:

1. Take oral antibiotics for three days to prevent intrauterine infection.
2. Abstain from sexual intercourse for 40 days—not only to reduce infection risk but also to avoid unintended pregnancy, which could further compromise the woman’s health.
3. Maintain personal hygiene: Lochia (post-abortion vaginal discharge) will occur; wash the external genitalia daily with warm water, and avoid tub bathing to prevent infection.

4. Prioritize rest: Due to physical weakness following abortion, bed rest for two weeks is recommended, and strenuous activity should be avoided.
In addition to maintaining a positive mood and adequate rest, dietary adjustments are crucial for recovery. Avoid spicy, cold, or raw foods; instead, consume nutrient-rich, blood-nourishing foods—such as lychee and jujube soup, soy milk and rice porridge, or pigeon and goji berry soup—to promote rapid physical recovery.
