After using the gel, a lot of blackish discharge came out.
After using the gel, a large amount of blackish discharge may occur, possibly due to endometrial bleeding, vaginal bleeding, or cervical bleeding. Targeted treatment is required, with specific analysis as follows:
1. Endometrial Bleeding
The gel contains progesterone. After application, it may cause withdrawal bleeding. Under hormonal influence, the endometrium may shed, leading to this phenomenon. This is generally not a cause for concern and usually resolves on its own after some time.
2. Vaginal Bleeding
During insertion of the gel into the vagina, excessive force may damage the mucosa. If blood vessels rupture, bleeding may occur. If the blood volume is small and the blood is not immediately expelled from the vagina, it may oxidize and turn black, resulting in the aforementioned appearance. It is recommended to administer the medication gently to avoid mucosal injury and subsequent bleeding.
3. Cervical Bleeding
If there are local cervical lesions, such as uterine polyps or cervical cancer, inserting the gel into the vagina might inadvertently irritate these areas, causing bleeding. Once the blood oxidizes before being discharged, it appears black. In such cases, surgical removal of the lesion under a doctor's supervision may be necessary. Besides the above, conditions such as threatened miscarriage, pelvic inflammatory disease, or vaginitis can also lead to this symptom. It is advisable to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment promptly.
