Introduction
Lanatoside C (Cedilanid) Effects: Lanatoside C is primarily used to treat chronic heart failure, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, and atrial fibrillation. It is also highly effective in managing valvular heart disease, hypertension, and congenital heart disease. Additionally, intravenous bolus administration of lanatoside C can slow the ventricular rate, after which oral digoxin therapy may be initiated.

Lanatoside C is a cardiac glycoside with rapid onset of action. Its pharmacological effects include enhancing myocardial contractility and slowing heart rate and atrioventricular conduction. Compared with other digitalis-derived cardiotonic agents, lanatoside C acts quickly yet exhibits relatively low accumulation potential, and the therapeutic index—the margin between therapeutic and toxic doses—is comparatively wide. So, what are the clinical effects of lanatoside C? Below is an explanation.

Clinical Effects of Lanatoside C

Lanatoside C is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic heart failure, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, and atrial fibrillation. It is also highly effective in managing valvular heart disease, hypertension, and congenital heart disease. Intravenous bolus administration of lanatoside C can effectively slow ventricular rate; thereafter, oral digoxin therapy may be initiated. During clinical use, caution is warranted, as lanatoside C may cause adverse effects—particularly at higher doses—including nausea, anorexia, headache, bradycardia, and cumulative toxicity leading to headache and various arrhythmias. Severe cases may result in myocardial injury or hepatic and renal dysfunction.

Additional Information: Important Precautions for Lanatoside C Use

1. Patients intolerant to lanatoside C may develop new-onset arrhythmias, impaired gastric motility, nausea or vomiting, lower abdominal pain, muscle weakness, or generalized fatigue. Overdose may lead to visual disturbances (e.g., blurred vision or xanthopsia), diarrhea, central nervous system depression, and lethargy.

2. Lanatoside C should be used with caution—or only under strict physician supervision—in patients with severe myocardial damage or renal insufficiency. It must not be co-administered with calcium-containing intravenous preparations. Caution is also advised in patients who have recently received other digitalis-derived cardiotonic agents. Patients with hypokalemia should likewise use lanatoside C cautiously.

The above outlines the clinical effects and key considerations regarding lanatoside C. We hope this information is helpful to you.
