Introduction
Chest tightness and pain upon waking in the morning in smokers may be caused by conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, bronchitis, or coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, and can be treated with medications, surgery, or other methods. It could also result from hypertension, heart failure, or myocardial infarction. If any physical discomfort occurs, smoking should be stopped immediately and medical attention sought promptly.

Waking up in the morning with chest tightness and pain after smoking may be caused by conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), bronchitis, or coronary atherosclerotic heart disease. These can be treated with medications, surgery, or other methods. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

GERD often leads to excessive gastric acid secretion. Smoking can affect gastric acid production and gastrointestinal motility, causing radiating pain, vomiting, and other symptoms. Patients may take medications such as omeprazole enteric-coated capsules or mosapride citrate tablets under medical guidance.

2. Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a common respiratory disease. Smoking damages the respiratory mucosa, leading to chest pain, coughing, and other symptoms. Patients may use medications such as levofloxacin hydrochloride capsules or amoxicillin capsules under medical supervision to alleviate symptoms.

3. Coronary Atherosclerotic Heart Disease

In patients with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, harmful substances in tobacco can damage vascular endothelial cells when smoking, promoting atherosclerosis and narrowing of blood vessels, thereby impairing blood supply to the heart. In severe cases, stent placement surgery may be required for treatment.

Besides the above causes, chest discomfort upon waking may also result from hypertension, heart failure, myocardial infarction, or other conditions. If physical discomfort occurs, smoking should be stopped immediately and medical attention sought for comprehensive examination and diagnosis to determine the exact cause and receive appropriate treatment.
