Introduction
Excessive moisture at the Zusanli (ST36) acupoint after moxibustion may result from overactive sweat glands, prolonged moxibustion duration, or severe cold-dampness. This can be improved through general treatments, medication, and other methods. Additionally, high local temperature or spleen-stomach deficiency might also contribute. Patients should maintain warmth after moxibustion to prevent chilling and associated physical discomfort.

Excessive moisture after moxibustion at the Zusanli (ST36) acupoint may be due to reasons such as overactive sweat glands, prolonged moxibustion time, or severe cold-dampness in the body. This can be improved through general treatments, medications, and other methods. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Overactive Sweat Glands

During moxibustion, if the temperature is too high or the moxa is held too close to the skin, it may stimulate local sweat glands, causing excessive sweating and resulting in noticeable moisture. This is a normal physiological response and usually does not require special treatment. Maintaining proper local warmth is sufficient.

2. Prolonged Moxibustion Time

Moxibustion has the effect of warming yang, dispelling cold, and promoting blood circulation. If a patient applies moxibustion to one acupoint for an extended period, it may accelerate local blood flow and lead to moisture exudation. It is recommended that patients reduce the frequency or shorten the duration of each moxibustion session in the future.

3. Severe Cold-Dampness

Moxibustion at Zusanli helps eliminate dampness from the body. If a patient has significant internal dampness, this may manifest as subcutaneous fluid accumulation, which is expelled during moxibustion. Patients may also follow medical advice to take herbal formulas such as Huoxiang Zhengqi San or Shenling Baizhu Wan to accelerate the removal of excess dampness.

Besides the above causes, excessive moisture may also result from high ambient temperature or spleen-stomach deficiency. After moxibustion, patients should ensure adequate warmth to prevent chills and associated physical discomfort.
