Introduction
In general, severe itching and swelling of the external nose may be caused by non-pathological factors, or by pathological conditions such as acute rhinitis or allergic dermatitis. Besides these three causes, other possible reasons include folliculitis, urticaria, etc. Patients are advised to maintain good local hygiene and a positive mindset.

Generally, intense itching on the outside of the nose followed by swelling may be caused by non-pathological factors, or it could result from pathological conditions such as acute rhinitis or allergic dermatitis. A detailed analysis is as follows:

I. Non-Pathological Causes

Itching on the outer part of the nose is often closely related to oily skin and excessive sebum secretion in the nasal area. Bacterial invasion of the skin around the nose can lead to itching and even cause redness and swelling. Patients are advised to maintain a light diet and avoid consuming excessive greasy foods.

II. Pathological Causes

1. Acute Rhinitis

This condition is usually caused by bacterial infection, leading to symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose. Local inflammation can also irritate the nasal mucosa, causing sudden itching in the nose. Treatment may include medications such as levofloxacin hydrochloride tablets or amoxicillin capsules, taken under medical guidance.

2. Allergic Dermatitis

This is primarily triggered by exposure to allergens and may present with skin redness, swelling, nausea, and vomiting. If allergic dermatitis occurs on the nose, local inflammation can cause sudden, intense itching. Medications such as levocetirizine hydrochloride tablets or loratadine tablets may be used as directed by a physician.

In addition to the above conditions, other possible causes include nasal cellulitis, folliculitis, urticaria, and similar disorders. Patients should maintain good local hygiene and adopt a positive, optimistic mindset.
