Introduction
Facial paralysis, also known as facial nerve palsy, often causes a mild twitching sensation on one side of the face in affected patients. This symptom is usually caused by improvement of the disease, facial muscle spasms, epileptic seizures, or other reasons, and targeted treatment should be provided according to the specific underlying cause. Besides these common causes, other factors such as hypertension, cerebral hemorrhage, or stroke may also be responsible. Patients should therefore seek timely medical attention for proper diagnosis and treatment.

In general, facial paralysis refers to facial nerve palsy. A slight twitching sensation on one side of the face in patients with facial nerve palsy is usually caused by factors such as improvement of the disease, facial muscle spasms, or epileptic seizures. Targeted treatment should be provided based on the specific underlying cause. The detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Disease Improvement

Facial nerve palsy is primarily associated with factors such as exposure to wind and infections. Patients may experience symptoms including sensory loss and restricted movement. Facial twitching in patients with facial nerve palsy may be related to the gradual recovery of facial muscle and nerve function, which could indicate improvement of the condition. This is often accompanied by signs of recovery such as cessation of drooling and resolution of mouth corner drooping. At this stage, proper care should be taken to prevent chilling.

2. Facial Muscle Spasm

This is a relatively common complication of facial nerve palsy, associated with local nerve damage, causing mild localized twitching. It may also be accompanied by symptoms such as headache and tinnitus on the affected side. Under medical guidance, patients should take medications such as vitamin B2 tablets and oryzanol tablets to alleviate symptoms.

3. Epileptic Seizure

In severe cases, facial nerve palsy can affect brain nerves, leading to abnormal electrical discharges and symptoms of epileptic seizures, manifesting as facial twitching, body stiffness, foaming at the mouth, and loss of consciousness. In such cases, treatment under medical supervision with medications such as oxcarbazepine tablets or sodium valproate sustained-release tablets is necessary.

Besides the above common causes, other factors such as hypertension, cerebral hemorrhage, or stroke may also be responsible. Patients should seek timely medical attention to prevent worsening of the condition.
