How come the clotrimazole vaginal tablet does not dissolve after insertion?
Clotrimazole vaginal tablets may fail to dissolve if not inserted deeply enough. When the medication is placed too shallowly in the vagina, it may not dissolve properly. It is important to follow the instructions carefully when administering the medication. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly, then lie down on your back on the bed with your legs slightly bent.
2. Use the thumb and index finger of your left hand to separate the labia majora and minora, place the clotrimazole vaginal tablet at the vaginal opening, and align it properly.
3. Using the index finger of your right hand (wearing a clean, sterile glove), gently push the tablet along the posterior wall of the vagina toward the vaginal fornix.
4. Remain lying down for at least half an hour after insertion, preferably going to sleep, to prevent the tablet from dislodging.
Patients should ensure hand hygiene during administration to avoid infection. Medication should be used strictly as directed by a physician to prevent any physical discomfort.
