How is cervical erosion treated with LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure)?
For patients with severe cervical erosion or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is commonly chosen in clinical practice. The surgery should be performed at a正规 hospital, and the specific steps are as follows:
1. The patient lies in the supine position with knees bent and legs spread apart. The doctor routinely disinfects the skin of the external genitalia and vagina.
2. A speculum is used to open the vagina, and an iodine test is performed on the cervix to identify the margins of the lesion. At the same time, the anesthesiologist administers local anesthesia to the patient's cervix.
3. After the anesthesia takes effect, using a semicircular blade, the abnormal tissue is excised around the cervical os—starting 2 mm outside the margin of the cervical lesion—in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, resulting in a disc-shaped cervical surface.
4. A ball-shaped electrode is then used for electrocoagulation to achieve hemostasis. The wound surface is disinfected with iodophor and coated with burn ointment.
Dressing changes should be performed regularly after surgery, and sexual intercourse should be avoided for one month.
