Introduction
Under normal circumstances, sweating of the soles despite cool weather may be caused by factors such as wearing thick shoes or socks, sweaty feet (hyperhidrosis), perimenopausal syndrome, athlete's foot (tinea pedis), or neurosis. If a patient wears excessively thick footwear or socks in daily life, heat from the feet cannot dissipate properly, leading to the aforementioned condition. In cases where the cause is solely due to thick footwear or socks, it is recommended that the patient simply switch to more suitable footwear and socks.

Under normal circumstances, sweating on the soles of the feet despite cool weather may be caused by factors such as wearing thick socks or shoes, sweaty feet (hyperhidrosis), perimenopausal syndrome, athlete's foot (tinea pedis), or neurosis. A detailed analysis is as follows:

1. Wearing Thick Shoes and Socks

If a person regularly wears thick shoes and socks, heat from the feet cannot dissipate effectively, which may lead to the aforementioned condition. Since this issue arises solely from overly thick footwear, it typically does not affect other parts of the body. In such cases, simply changing into lighter shoes and socks is usually sufficient.

2. Sweaty Feet (Hyperhidrosis)

This refers to excessive sweating of the feet. When organic substances in sweat break down, they produce an unpleasant, irritating odor. Patients often have damp shoes regardless of season—summer or winter—leading to the described symptoms. This can generally be improved by soaking the feet with topical herbal remedies such as Artemisia leaf (Ai Ye), safflower (Hong Hua), Atractylodes (Cang Zhu), and alum (Bai Fan).

3. Perimenopausal Syndrome

In female patients, hormonal fluctuations during perimenopause can cause unexplained sweating of the soles, along with sensations of heat in the palms and soles. Treatment under medical supervision may include vitamin C chewable tablets or vitamin AD soft capsules.

4. Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pedis)

Caused by fungal infection, this condition leads to symptoms such as blisters between the toes, peeling skin, or white, softened skin. During physical activity, these blisters may easily rupture, resulting in erosion and fluid exudation. If the exudate reaches the sole, it may be mistaken for sweating, thus causing the described phenomenon. It is recommended that patients promptly change their socks and shoes and, under medical guidance, take oral antifungal medications such as terbinafine hydrochloride tablets, itraconazole dispersible tablets, or fluconazole dispersible tablets.

5. Neurosis

This condition is primarily associated with excessive psychological stress. During episodes, autonomic nervous system dysfunction can lead to sweating on the soles. Antidepressants are commonly used for treatment, including doxepin hydrochloride tablets or amitriptyline hydrochloride tablets, taken as directed by a physician.

Besides the above-mentioned causes, other conditions such as hyperhidrosis may also be responsible. It is advisable to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital, undergo appropriate diagnostic tests to determine the underlying cause, and receive targeted treatment under professional medical guidance.
