Introduction
In general, if a person has no issues after eating during the day but experiences stomach pain at night, it may be related to irregular eating habits, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers, or duodenal ulcers. Patients are advised to follow medical instructions for symptomatic treatment. Additionally, conditions such as cholecystitis or gastric tumors may also be contributing factors. If patients develop discomfort symptoms, they should seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital to avoid delaying diagnosis and treatment.

In general, experiencing stomach pain after eating at night while having no issues during daytime meals may be related to irregular eating habits, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), chronic gastritis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, and other factors. Patients are advised to follow medical guidance for symptomatic treatment. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Irregular Eating Habits

When meals during the day are regular but nighttime involves frequent social events, consumption of spicy or stimulating foods, or overeating, the digestive system may become overloaded. A large amount of food can irritate the stomach and cause pain. It is recommended to maintain regular meal times and eat smaller portions or easily digestible foods for dinner.

2. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

This condition is often related to body position—for example, lying flat may allow stomach contents to reflux into the esophagus, causing retrosternal pain, which can be relieved by sitting upright. Other symptoms may include acid regurgitation and belching. Patients may take medications such as mosapride citrate tablets or omeprazole enteric-coated capsules as directed by a physician.

3. Chronic Gastritis

Prolonged and repeated damage to the gastric mucosa from various harmful factors can lead to pathological changes, commonly causing epigastric discomfort, bloating, or dull pain, resulting in stomach pain after evening meals despite no issues during the day. Patients may take prokinetic agents such as domperidone tablets or mosapride citrate tablets under medical supervision.

4. Gastric Ulcer

Long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as amoxicillin, may lead to ulceration of the gastric mucosa, causing stomach pain after nighttime meals despite normal daytime eating. Patients may be prescribed omeprazole enteric-coated capsules, lansoprazole enteric-coated capsules, or similar medications to reduce gastric acid secretion, as directed by a doctor.

5. Duodenal Ulcer

Abdominal pain often occurs on an empty stomach and tends to improve after eating. The longer the interval between dinner and bedtime, the more likely abdominal pain may occur. During sleep, body position may contribute to abdominal discomfort, often accompanied by radiating pain behind the sternum or in the back. Patients may be treated with medications such as omeprazole enteric-coated capsules or aluminum potassium sulfate-tannic acid injection solution as prescribed.

In addition to the above, conditions such as cholecystitis or gastric tumors may also be contributing factors. If patients experience any discomfort, they should seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital to avoid delays in diagnosis and treatment.
